Sažetak
This paper deals with the current processes of transformation and modernization of study programs in sociology at Croatian universities. The main goal of analysis is to define the current influence of sociological science and scholar's practices in Croatian higher education. The goal derives from Kalanj's argument that sociology, as well as other social sciences, re-evaluates the actual meaning of its tradition. The paper extends Kalanj's argument about the meaning of classical sociological theory by considering other modern sociological perspectives. Three general standpoints within the context of the program's transformation in the Croatian academic community will be considered in the paper: tradition in current study programs, theoretical re-construction, and implementation of new sociological theories and research. The paper will provide details about program's changes that will be implemented in subsequent academic years.
