Sažetak
In the past twenty years mechanical alloying has become a well known technique in powder metallurgy. In the process of mechanical alloying (MA) and mechanical grinding (MG) metallic powders are subjected to repeated mechanical deformation in a laboratory powder mill. These techniques showed themselves to be more efficient in producing amorphous materials or nano-crystalline non-equilibrium materials in comparison to liquid quenching or amorphization by solid-state reaction. It was shown that the high energy ball milling could be equivalent to thermal processes in achieving high temperature phase transitions and it enables to alloy high melting and even immiscible elements. Partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) is generally recognized as the ceramics material with the most useful mechanical properties . It was reported that it is possible to synthesise the zirconia with 16 wt.% of Y2O3 or CoO by mechanical alloying and to form a cubic solid solutions at room temperature and thus avoid very high temperatures required in conventional high temperature procedures. In this contribution we present a new method of analysis of nanocrystalline materials using CRISP programme for performing image processing of HREM photographs.
