Sažetak
Today informational technology and the Internet play a huge role in our society and the number of its users is growing rapidly each day. The Internet is perfect media for use in higher education, but its possibilities still aren't used, as they should be. In comparison to learning from a lecture, on-line educational materials have many advantages. That is the main reason why university professors shouldn’ t ignore new technologies and why on-line educational materials should be a part of standard educational process. The base for the article is work in Reference center for the educational materials development that is founded by Croatian Academic Research Network (CARNet). The named center is one of seven CARNet's centers which goal is to provide on-line support to university staff in the process of educational materials development. This article is focused on one segment of educational web materials development – design. Design of educational web materials includes the following segments: navigation, buttons, background, colour, fonts, images and animations. In the article, some main principles of design are given.
