Sažetak
This paper presents results of numerical work on modelling sea hydrodynamics around the diffuser section of Split submarine outfall (southern Croatia). Special attention has been paid to analysis of sea currents patterns in the vicinity of sea mountain located approx. 2, 5 km westward to the planned location of the outfall’ s diffuser section in the Brac channel. As some measured oceanographic data indicated slight possibility of local upwelling occurrence in the wastewater discharge zone, it was deemed important to model hydrodynamic situations that are supposedly critical for vertical transport of wastewater “ plume” toward the sea surface in the mixing zone. Summer hydrodynamic conditions were considered particularly interesting, as in such situations the danger of surface transport of wastewater mixture toward coastal recreational zones is at its highest.
