Sažetak
The objective of the paper is to evaluate the needs and optimum strategies for the maintenance and rehabilitation of county-level and local roads in Zagreb area. The authors analyze road network in the length of 1496.62 km, which is administered and operate by the Regional Road Administration. The evaluation of road network condition is based on actual data that were acquired by field measurements and visual inspection of pavement damage. Deflection measurements (La Croix Deflectograph) and unevenness surveys (profilograph) were conducted on the representative sample of about 5% (75 km) of the total length of the road network under study. The visual inspection of pavement damage on the road network was conducted on the entire regional road network. The strategy of road network maintenance and rehabilitation was analyzed by means of the HDM-4 model. This enabled establishment of technically correct and economically justified strategies of road network maintenance and rehabilitation. In addition, the model enabled definition of time sequence (years) in which individual maintenance and rehabilitation measures are to be undertaken, including the related financing requirements.
