Croatian citizenship
Sažetak
After independence, in accordance with the Law on Croatian Citizenship, the Republic of Croatia determined its citizenship on the basis of two principles: legal continuity and Croatian ethnicity reinforced by residence. Moreover, citizenship, based on the principles of exlusivity, equality between men and women, and equality of adoptive children, can be acquired by origin, by birth, through naturalisation, and on the basis of international treaties. Negative consequences of the Croatian Law exist, however, and it must be amended so that it conforms to international standards.
