Sažetak
The article refers to the period before April 2001. The author describes internal structure of the local authorities in the Republic of Croatia as follows: a) the representative bodies, b) a bearer of the executive power, c) administrative departments. The author also describes the electoral system for local self-government representative bodies during 90-ies, known as a combination of a proportional and a majority system. There are two tables at the end of the article showing overall results of elections for town and communal councils on 13 April, 1997, as wel as overall results of elections for County Assemblies on 13 April, 1997.
