Sažetak
Introduction: The aim of modern dentistry is to use a preventive approach whenever possible rather than invasive caries repair. Device that is used for monitoring early demineralization of hard dental tissue is laser fluorescence based DIAGNOdent (KaVo, Germany) while for healing demineralized tissue delivering ozone with HealOzone (KaVo, Germany) device is a method of choice. Aim: The aim of this study was to record demineralization values of fissure caries lesion with DIAGNOdent and heal it using HealOzone. Materials and methods: In this study 17 patients with 43 primar fissure caries in premolars were observed. After cleaning with PROPHYflex (KaVo, Germany), the demineralization values were recorded with DIAGNOdent and treated with HealOzone according to the previously established ozone treatment protocol (E.Lynch, J.Holmes). After each treatment reductant fluid was used, and a home care kit is been recommended for use between HealOzone treatment. Treatment protocol was repeated after one and after two months. Results: There was a signifficant decrease in DIAGNOdent values after the first and second recall. Conclussion: The use of HealOzone not only preserves tooth structure by avoiding the use of invasive technique for removal of carious tissue, but also destroys microorganisms responsible for caries and promotes caries reversal and tooth remineralization.
