Cultural, national and regional identities in Southeastern Europe have an important impact on the processes of integration into the EU, which depend on democratisation of the Southeastern European societies.Redefined cultural identities are the strong point of modernization and overall development of the region. They provide the basis for the new type of intercultural relations, democratisation and Europeanisation within the region.Roles of cultural identities, Southeastern European states and the EU influences are analysed as essential in the process of turning Southeastern Europe into a modern European region.
