Sažetak
During exploration, drilling and hydrocarbon production a certain amount of waste is generated. By injecting that waste into suitable underground geological formations, where it primary came from, petroleum industry waste is safely removed from human biosphere. For even more than half of the century implementation of this kind of technology of waste disposal has been known and used in the developed countries of the world. The injection of waste is done through specially selected and registered wells. By injection technology, both liquid and solid phase are, simultaneously and safely deposited into the selected formation. Surface disposal of petroleum industry waste, compared to injection technology, is, along with technological imperfections, much more expensive and more environmentally intensive. Due to negative publicity regarding environmental impact, gained during the past, and considering new set of environmental laws and standards, the waste injection technology could be the solution for petroleum industry to achieve sustainable waste management and to diminish its impact on the environmental balances. Furthermore by implementing this, already proven technology, the present but also the future problems of global energetic, like problem of greenhouse gasses, could also find its solutions.
