Sažetak
The central bank is a state owned institution which meets public needs influencing macroeconomic variables. It is independent on the current political administration since it is institutionally, instrumentally, personally and financially independent. Paper analyses the relation between political authority and central banks from the point of view of realising the fundamental functions of central banks, in the context of the "political business cycle" theory and of the relevant empirical research.
