Sažetak
A new neural network for lightness perception is proposed. Network is based on a interaction between boundary computation and surface reconstruction. Boundary computation is implemented using excitatory recurrent network with presynaptic inhibition which differentiate boundaries with different contrast values. Model is able to simulate lightness illusions such as White's effect and Benary cross which could not be explained using lateral inhibition.
