Sažetak
The report evaluates nutritional status of adolescent girls with anorexia nervosa and possible differences in morphological features among the groups of different duration of illness as well as different types of amenorrhea (primary and secondary amenorrhea). Correlations between plasma concentrations of hormones and morphological features of anorectic girls have been also evaluated. The sample consisted of 20 adolescent girls (mean age: 16.05 ą 2.21) hospitalised due to anorexia nervosa. Z - values were calculated according to morphological features of the phenotypicaly healthy population of the same gender and age from Zagreb. Kruskal-Wallis test and correlations controlled for age were applied. Adolescent girls were very undernourished (mean BMI: 14.96 ą 1.37). Girls with duration of illness longer than 6 months lost more fat mass (especially subcutaneous fat from the trunk) and muscular tissue mass than the girls with shorter illness. They were also shorter, although significantly older, than the girls with shorter illness. Morphological features did not differ significantly between the groups of girls with primary and secondary amenorrhea. Correlations between plasma concentrations of hormones and morphological variables were not numerous and there were no significant correlations between basal values of sex hormones and morphological variables except the negative correlation between weight before illness and LH concentration (p < 0.05).
