Sažetak
Mammalian serum is known to be a rich source of different enzymes, some of which can be used as catalysts in selective transformations of sugars. It was also shown that rabbit and guinea pig sera contain esterases specific for acylated monosaccharides, but the regioselectivity of hydrolysis differs depending on the enzyme source. They are specially interesting in transformations of substrates such as sugars which possess a number of hydroxyl groups of similar reactivity. In this work we describe the isolation of some esterases from guinea pig and rabbit sera which hydrolyze sugar substrates. Several forms of esterases were obtained upon chromatography of respective sera on DEAE Sepharose. Elution profiles, esterase activities and regioselectivity of isolated forms were different for guinea pig and rabbit sera. Kinetic studies were undertaken to characterize the isolated enzyme fractions. Furthermore, these esterases were used in regio and/or chemoselective transformations of acylated monosaccharides from the xylose, mannose and glucose series of sugars.
