Sažetak
During archaeological excavation on Vučedol (archaeological site near Vukovar, north-eastern Croatia) in 1984-85., abundance of osteological remains of wild and domestic animals was found. Those bone fragments arised from three different eneolitic cultures: Baden (3 500-3 000 BC), Kostolac (3 250-3 000 BC) and Vučedol (3 000-2 400 BC) and they are mostly digging out from waste pits, which has been situated inside their houses. Considerable part of that osteological material is preserved enough for defining skeletal element and its taxonomic affiliation. However, some fragments are hard to determinate, because they have been damaged during centuries and probably with vučedol habitant's way of life and alimentation. This is particularly relate to head bones, who are very dismembered and where the parts that are consider important for determination have been ruined. Because of that, it is specially significant and interesting finds of skull part that belongs to small domestic ruminant. The aim of this study is to establish the species (sheep or goat), is it wild or domestic animal, possibly define age and sex, and by morphometrical methods, which are possible on this part of skull, compare it with skulls of recent small domestic ruminant.
