Sažetak
The article shows how tongue twisters can be utilized in EFL pronunciation courses for future teachers and respectively in the primary classroom. Tongue twisters can be introduced as short warm up activities which can not only raise awareness and improve the pronunciation of individual speech sounds but also observe how individual sounds change in their phonological context and connected speech through assimilation, linking and elision. Tongue twisters lend themselves to unforced repetition and thus create good ground for the improvement of pronunciation that does not inhibit or discourage students at any age or level of knowledge. They generate a relaxed and fun environment while learning a foreign language. Finally, the article will provide a selection of tongue twisters that can be used for reinforcing the practice of some English speech sounds in their phonological context and will give an example of how students can write their own tongue twisters.
