Sažetak
Metals in natural waters exist in very low concentrations, so, for its determination very sensitive techniques have to be used. Moreover, the techniques which provide multielemental analysis are favourable ones. The inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) is one of the newest techniques which fulfil such criteria. In this communication development of the method for determination of ca. 30 metals in the surface waters by mean of the HR ICPMS (high resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) will be presented and discussed. Sampling, treatment and conservation of water samples, during which an extreme care should be taken to avoid contamination of the samples, will be described. The best choice of the instrumental and analytical parameters (e.g. the use of the various internal standards, choosing of appropriate resolution for particular metal determination etc.) will be discussed for number of metals and different types of water samples (riverine, estuarine, seawater). The measurements quality control is performed by the analyses of the standardized referent materials and by the participation in the international intercalibrations, which results will be also presented. Concentrations of number of dissolved metals in the water samples from the Croatian rivers and lakes (Sava, Krka, Kupa, Plitvice etc.) will be shown.
