Sažetak
Zagreb University has Croatias only Faculty of Pharmacy. Croatian pharmacy is deeply rooted in the history of Zagreb University. The education of pharmacists started in 1882, and it was, after theology, philosophy and law, the fourth course of study. During the period of 115 years the university education has changed following the advances in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. Todays Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry organizes and carries out scinetific and highly professional work in two scientific and educational fields: pharmacy and medical biochemistry. The four. year undergraduate training in pharmacy leads to Master of Pharmacy degree. For the pharmacist the university diploma offers various opportunities of employment (community or hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, education and research, etc.).
Students wishing ro continue their studies can enroll either at Postgraduate Study of Pharmaceutical Sciences or Postgraduate Study of Medical Sciences. The postgraduate programme leads, depending on a course, to the Master of Science in Pharmacy, Chemistry and Medical Biochemistry, or corresponding Doctor of Science (Ph. D.) degrees.
For those who want to improve their professionl knowledge the Faculty offers two-semester professionl study.
Pharmaceutical research and graduate programmes are closely connected with the pharmaceutical industry in Croatia (Pliva and Belupo), the pharmacy-care system, other parts of the health-care sector and a number of sister Universities all over the world.
