Sažetak
In the paper is presented the review of requirements and procedures dealing with the accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories in the field of radiation protection with special respect to situation in Croatia. The requirements that must be fulfilled by an accredited testing or calibration laboratory, regardless of its field, are described in the standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025, "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories." The quality of a radiation protection program can be no better than the quality of the measurements made to support it. Assurance of measurement quality can be achieved by participation in measurement assurance programmes that evaluate the appropriateness of procedures, facilities, and equipment plus include periodic actions that demonstrate adequate performance. These actions include internal consistency checks, proficiency tests, intercomparisons and site visits by technical experts to review operations. In the Republic of Croatia there are no yet accredited laboratories in the field of radiation protection. However, harmonisation process of technical legislation with the EU legal system will require some changes in laws and regulations in the field of radiation protection, including the ones dealing with the notification of testing laboratories connected procedures. Regarding the notification procedures for testing laboratories in the Republic of Croatia, in the regulated area, the existing accreditation infrastructure, i.e. Croatian Accreditation Agency is ready for utilisation since it has already established and further developing consistent accreditation system compatible with international requirements and procedures.
