Sažetak
With his book titled "Etika i Bioetika" (Ethics and Bioethics), Ante Covic has transformed the conclusions, observations and a constantly repeating necessity of bioethics literature in the Croatian language into reality. Deliberation on ethics and bioethics and illustrations of bioethics' general emergence, particularly in Croatia, published in scientific journals and available, mainly to members of the academic community, lead to a decision of offering and placing it to the insight of the wider public. Reading the book it becomes obvious that the author sets himself a dual task: first, he guides the readers back to the fundamental sources of ethical values, points out how their unacquaintance with the subject is not a "matter" of scholastic examination of knowledge, although as a professor he could claim his rights to this, but warns that the unacquaintance with these matters in the age we live in, represents a danger to the human and other forms of life the human himself is responsible for. Therefore, holding us responsible for ourselves and others, Covic leads us into a world where we become aware of what we are willing to oversee, neglect, forget, or worse, based on this, do to others the Other, the author does not remain on the level of his own deliberation but points out how the speaker "pours" the intellectual curiosity and scientific interest into dialogue, relationship and practical action. Having in consideration these two tasks and messages arising from them, we may continue with the reading and a more detailed review of the written and published
