Sažetak
The aim of this work is to describe a model of the urea reactor and carbamate condenser of an industrial urea plant based on carbon dioxide stripping technology using ChemCAD in order to provide a quantitative and qualitative description necessary for optimizing the whole urea process. A plate type synthesis reactor, which is used on the observed plant, is represented in such a way that each plate of the synthesis reactor is modeled as a combination of the equilibrium and continuous stirred tank reactor. The validity of the proposed model is demonstrated using industrial data. It was found that the results of the model closely match the industrial data. The effect of the changes in the NH3/CO2 feed moll ratio, the H2O/CO2 feed mol ratio, and the pressure of the shell of the carbamate condenser on the behavior of the urea reactor was investigated based on the model developed in this work. Consideration is also given to the formation of biuret in the urea reactor which depends on the pressure of the shell of the carbamate condense
