Sažetak
Objective: To analyse the use of drugs acting on the musculoskeletal system in Zagreb in 2001 based on ATC and DDD drug classification system by WHO. Method: The data on outpatient musculoskeletal drug use (group M) were obtained from 31 pharmacy units of Zagreb Pharmacies Group. The data were extrapolated on the total number of pharmacies in Zagreb and DDD and DDD per thousand inhabitants per day(DDD/TID)were calculated. The number and type of drugs accounting for 90% of total use of group M drugs (DU90%) was also defined. Results: The total number of DDD/TID for group M amounts to 104.9, while drugs pertaining to M01 subgroup (antiinflammatory and antirheumatic drugs)are used to the greatest extent, i.e. with 94.9 DDD/TID. The group comprising 90% of the use, i.e. the DU90% contains 5 drugs of the total of 19 drugs participating in outpatient use. Diclofenac sodium accounts for more than 50% of drugs in the DU90% segment(47.3 DDD/TID). Conclusion: The therapeutic group of non-steroid antirheumatic drugs accounts for 90% of the total use, with diclofenac sodium making more than 50% of these.
