Sažetak
A series of the novel benzenesulfonylurea derivatives of 15-membered azalides were prepared and their structures elucidated by NMR and IR spectroscopic methods and mass spectrometry. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of all the compounds were determined on a panel of susceptible and resistant Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial strains. Several compounds with benzenesulfonyl group linked directly to macrocyclic ring had better antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae and inducibly resistant Streptococcus pyogenes strain in comparison with azithromycin, while the other molecules did not show improvements in the overall in vitro profile
