Sažetak
Using the WHO ATC/DDD methodology the number of defined daily doses (DDD) was calculated from the data on the number and size of packages obtained from the state-owned pharmacy in Zagreb. These data were compared with data on drug utilization for Finland. The method of Drug Utilization 90% (DU90%) and other prescription quality indicators were used in these analyses. Psycholeptics accounted for the highest proportion of drug utilization and more than half of the total DDD for group N in both Zagreb and Finland. In Zagreb, the leading drugs were diazepam and oxazepam in 2001 and 2002. The leading drug in Finland was zopiclone. In Zagreb, cinnarizine ranked high, whereas in Finland it was not present. In addition to cinnarizine, metamizole, maprotiline, methylphenobarbital, biperiden and fluphenazine were included in DU90% segment in Zagreb but these agents were not within the DU90% segment in Finland.
