Sažetak
Castration of adult male rats enhanced the sensitivity to picrotoxin induced convulsions but failed to affect the post-mortem accumulation of GABA in the substantia nigra, indicating that orchidectomy did not change the turnover of GABA in this brain region. Chronic treatment of young male rats with estradiol made to convulse 90 % of picrotoxin (2.5 mg/kg) injected animals. The same dose of picrotoxin was subconvulsive for control animals. Testosterone treatment failed to affect the sensitivity of females to picrotoxin.
