Sažetak
The paper presents tha main standpoints in the analysis of common and sectored basic strategic development guidelines for the Republic of Croatia, with which we attempt to increase the understanding of the dynamics of sustainable development by using three key development challenges: preservation of landscape and biodiversity, protection of cultural heritage and promotion of tourism. We have shown the main sources for financing sustainable development of the Adriatic coast, sea nad islands. There are financial resources and numerous development programmes and projects, but unfortunately, there is lack of capacity within state institutions for their acceptance and systematic implementation.
