Sažetak
The paper is conceived as an interdisciplinary study. The specific Croatian historical circumstances in the 1990s – devastating interethnic war, internationalization of the "Yugoslav crisis", establishment of an independent Croatian state, transition in the 1990s – promoted different perceptions and views on the events, producing many controversies. The “emerging history” fostered new narratives and historiographical research. With a broader review of the content and methodological preoccupations of Croatian historiography in the indicated period, the focus of the study is the analysis of the specificity of the historical moment. The dynamics of historical events and their interpretation on different interactive levels are elaborated by the author by introducing new concepts: real time history and just in time history. Attention is also paid to the motive, which the book as a whole deals with, the issue of nationalization and politicization of history ; in this context, the author analyzes the problem of complex Croatian political and ideological heritage, which manifested itself as the imposition of the past as a constantly present present (the problem of reconciling totalitarian ideologies from the Croatian past, war trauma, new geopolitical architecture in the region and nationalisms etc.).
