Sažetak
Lindane and DDT are mandatory examined in river water in the Danube river basin. Drava river belongs to the Danube river basin and it is a transboundary river between Hungary and Croatia. Lindane and DDT have been monthly determined at two sampling stations on the Drava river, at Botovo-Őrtilos and Donji Miholjac-Drávasabolcs in international monitoring between two countries from 1998. The aim of this research is to present the concentration of lindane and DDT in the Drava river water during 2001 and 2002. Lindane and DDT were determined after liquid-liquid extraction in hexane by gas chromatography fitted with electron-capture detector. Split technique and temperature programmable operations with suitable capillary column were applied. Results have shown that maximum measured concentration of lindane at Botovo- Őrtilos was 4, 0 ng/l measured in September 2001 and at Donji Miholjac- Drávasabolcs 10 ng/l measured in January 2001. Maximum concentration of DDT at Botovo-Őrtilos was 25 ng/l and at Donji Miholjac-Drávasabolcs 105 ng/l determined in June 2001. Very often the concentration of lindane and DDT at both measuring points was below method detection limit which is 2 ng/l for lindane and 5 ng/l for DDT. Concentration of measured pesticides depends on water flow. Higher concentration was measured when water flow was higher as well as concentration of suspended matter which was picked up from sediment on river bottom. A certain quantity of lindane and DDT have dissolved from suspended particles on which they were adsorbed. It could be concluded that there is a need to determine pesticides also in river sediment.
