Sažetak
The inland waterway traffic is determined by the condition of its basic factors: waterways, navigation means, ports and port infrastructure and technical infrastructure (e.g. servicing activities, electronic and information systems, etc. Logistic approach (door-to door or just-in time) has increased the competitiveness of the river transport compared to other traffic branches, resulting in greater volumes of transported cargo in some West-European countries (Germany or Austria, for example). Consequently, the implementation of such approach to the Croatian inland waterways would require improvement and modernisation of single parts of the system. This refers primarily to the waterways, navigation means, ports and port mechanisation and terminals.
