Sažetak
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of new gastric peptide on kidney lesions. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 1. Unilateral nephroectomy - Male Wistar rats (200 g) were nephroectomized under ether anesthesia. One hour before, rats were treated by BPC (10 ug/kg and 10 ng/kg) and saline. After operation rats were treated with the same doses of BPC and saline every 24h. We compared the weight of the remaining kidney as well as volume of urine (16h collection) in treated and control groups. 2. Mercury induced acute renal failure - Male Wistar rats (200 g) received 2 mg/kg HgCl2 i.v. One hour prior, rats were pretreated by BPC 10 ug/kg i.p. We measured volume of urine, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine (in blood and urine), and weight of left kidney (g/100 g b.w.), 24 and 48 h after application of HgCl2 and BPC. All obtained results were tested using Student's t-test. RESULTS: 1. Unilateral nephroectomy - The rats treated by BPC in dose 10 ug/kg had a significantly larger volume of urine than other groups (control and BPC 10 ng/kg) on first and second day after operation. Weight of the remaining kidney was significantly less in BPC 10 ug/kg treated animals than in control and BPC 10 ng/kg groups. 2. Mecury induced acute renal failure - In the first day after application of HgCl2 BPC treated animals had a significantly larger volume of urine and creatinine clearance than control. On the second day BPC-treated animals had a significantly lower level of blood urea nitrogen than the control group.
