Sažetak
Partial thyroidectomy is followed by a transient decrease in thyroid function and by compensatory hypertrophy of the remnant. In previous experiments the normalization of thyroid function had occured much erlier than the final state of compensatory hypertrophy. Now the functional and quantitative histological state of the thyroid remnant after 3/4 thyroidectomy was investigated at the time at which the remnant secreted enough hormone to normalize oxygen consumption.
