Sažetak
Serotonin (5HT) system plays an important role in the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the regulation of alcohol intake. There is evidence that brain 5HT deficiency is associated with alcoholism, from both clinical and experimental sources. The experimental studies on the relationship between 5HT activity and alcohol consumption have often been performed on rat sub-lines, selectively bred to be extreme for ethanol intake and preference. For this study, we have used an inverse approach: comparasion of ethanol drinking pattern in rat sub-lines selectively bred for differences in the activity of 5HT system.
