Sažetak
After becoming the Olympic sport at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, judo spread all over the world. The reason for the increasing popularity of judo lies both in the dynamic technique and exciting competition, and in the variety of applying judo skills in case of danger. Improvement of one’ s personality and the acquisition of technical elements that can easily be applied in defending oneself from attack lie in the very essence of this sport. Therefore, judo attracts newcomers both as a sport and as a martial art and it becomes the personal and the social need of man in contemporary world.
