Sažetak
Halothane anesthesia per se significantly affected both types of immunity:the number of plaque forming cells (PFC) was reduced for 48, 3%, while rejection time of tumor was prolonged (+25.4%). Surgical stress showed tendency to potentiate immunosupression, and resulted in additional prolongation of inhibition of PFC formation but the results were of marginal statistical significance. The data emphasize that halothane anesthesia alone induces immunosupression which may enhance growth of allogenic sarcoma in mice and produces strong inhibition of hemolytic antibody production. The later effects were followed by hypoplasia of spleen and decrease of CD4/CD8 ratio. Indomethacin and/or nonspecific immunostimulator in particular doses were able to correct this immunosupression. The data suggest that immunosupression noticed in the patients undergoing general endotracheal anesthesia and major surgery my be provoked by the effect of halothane alone and might be partially corrected by appropraiate therapy.
