Sažetak
The aim of this work was to evaluate the dynamics of lymphocyte subpopulations in the clinical course of multiple sclerosis (MS). The total T-RFC and EAC-RFC were detected according to the method of Holm et al ; the active T-RFC according to the method of Rukavina et al. There was no significant difference comparing the relative and absolute numbers of active T, total T and B lymphocytes between age-matched controls (37 healths persons) and MS patients (11 with active disease-beginning and exacerbation, 18 with stable disease-remission). Some differences were noticed when groups of the active and stable form of the MS were compared. The percentage of active T lymphocytes was mach lower in the group of MS patients with active disease than in stable disease (P<0.01)or control groups (P<0.001). The percentage of total T and B lymphocytes was similar in all groups. The absolute number of RFC shows almost the same changes as those indicated in the relative numbers of cells. Again, the difference was significant for active T lymphocytes only (P<0.01). Our results showed that abberation in the functions of cell mediated immunity in MS patients exist. Consequently, it is difficult to accept that all of this changes are secundary to the central nervous system lesions.
