Sažetak
Spondyloarthropathies (SpA) are a group of inflammatory rheumatic diseases comprising the following diagnostic entities: ankylosing spondylitis ( AS), characterised by predominant axial skeletal invovement and advanced radiographic sacroiliac joint modifications ; reactive arthritis (ReA), characterised by an antecedent triggering infection ; a subset of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) ; arthritis associated with idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease (AIBD) and undifferentiated SpA (uSpA). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between parameters of SpA activity and seasonal oscillations. Matherial and methods: we investigated 74 examenees ( 56 females with average age of 28.6 ± ; 20.4 SD ; 18 males with average age of 35.6 ± ; 18.6 SD) in period from April, 2000 untill November 2001. To examine the activity of inflammatory disease we used clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, Bath Ankylosing Spondilytis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondilytis Functional Index (BASFI) and Visual Analog Scale of Pain (VASP). Resuts : we proved statistically significant increase of clinical manifestation activity, laboratory findings of inflammation, BASDAI and BASFI in Septemeber (p<0, 0088), and October (p < 0.0292) as well as in March (p<0, 0292) and April ( p<0.061). Conclusion : in this study SpA activity appears to be related with seasonal variations. Additional long - term observations will improve preventive treatement, rationalisation in drug medication and better haelth assemenet quality (HAQ). Evaluation of SpA activity and annual oscillation based on this study needs further monitoring
