Sažetak
The paper shows basic policies of stimulating R&D, while, according to low share of technologically advanced products in Coratian exports, and low R&D in business sector, focused on defensive restructuring, knowledge was not recognized as a production factor. In this regard, the role of state is very important in the promotion of the modern education system, through financing the public research projects, and in stimulating research and development in the business sector. It si of the utmost importance to develop mechanisms for promoting the cooperation between enterprises, university, public and private research institutes.
