Sažetak
The importance of deadlock in finite-buffer FMS was noted. Connections were drawn between the notions of deadlock, circular wait, circular blocking, and Petri net (PN) siphons. For a general class of finite-buffer multi-part reentrant flow lines conditions for deadlock were given in terms of certain `critical siphons'. A generalized kanban class of multi-class dynamic dispatching policies was defined that is guaranteed not only to avoid deadlock, but provides space for maximum resource utilization. A multi-class FBFS and LBFS dispatching policies were given.
