Sažetak
In this study the difference in some psychosomatic characteristics between physically active and inactive menopausal women is investigated. The sample comprised 243 women aged 50-65 years. 139 women were regularly physically active (aerobic classes 2 or more times a week). 104 women did not engage in any kind of regular physical activity. No significant differences were found concerning body weight and body height between the two groups. All women were asked to fill a questionnaire consisting of 11 questions concerning their psychosomatic status during the last year. We observed the current state of the following health and psychosomatic characteristics: manopausal symptoms, anxiety, depression, sleeping disorders, sociability, memory disorders, anger and irritability, changes in body mass, daily using of substances like tobacco and coffeine, daily using of dairy products. The analysis of the differences between the two groups pointed out that the active women show a significantly better status of health and psychosomatic characteristics contributing to their quality of life.
