Sažetak
The overall objective of the project is to establish collaboration between Croatian and Norwegian research groups to design and implement a state of the art integrated monitoring system for Croatian freshwater, estuarine and coastal marine waters. In addition, the project aims to involve both Norwegian and Croatian partners in developing university courses in ecotoxicology and environmental management in Osijek and Zagreb. The main objective can be broken down into the following parts: -exchange of expertise in relevant research areas between Croatian and Norwegian partners. -design and implementation of the proposed integrated environmental monitoring system in two characteristic regions of Croatia (Middle Adriatic and Eastern Slavonia). -develop and strengthen courses in ecotoxicology and environmental management at the universities in Zagreb and Osijek. -collaborative research on biomarkers which need further improvement and testing before use in monitoring. -develop quality assurance procedures and perform intercalibrations for selected methods between partner laboratories. -implementation of a risk assessment tool to assess conditions of the studied freshwater, estuarine and coastal marine waters and the health of its biological resources.
