Sažetak
Lung cancer risk from indoor radon to general population remains controversial, although studies of the radon exposure have established that radon decay products have been a cause of lung cancer among miners. For the case group of patients, diseased of lung cancer, and the control one, distributions of number of homes on indoor radon concentration were compared with the log-normal distribution ; the empirical frequency distribution of the control group obeyed the theoretical log-normal distribution. Using the ratio of frequencies of the case group to the control groups, or the relative frequencies, an association between relative frequencies and indoor radon concentrations was found and the positive correlation coefficient was obtained: thus enabled the estimation of the lung cancer rate for an indoor radon concentration. The significant difference between the radon means of the case sample and the control one led to the conclusion that patients, diseased of lung cancer, dwelt in homes with radon concentrations which were significantly higher in comparison with the radon level of the Osijek`s inhabitants of the control sample.
