Sažetak
The aim of this work was to investigate the effectiveness of chemical treatments with chromium trioxide and ferric nitrate in preventing wood deterioration during artificial weathering. This was assessed by changes in the zero-span tensile strength loss of thin early wood strips. FTIR transmission spectroscopy was used to study chemical changes taking place at the wood surface upon treatment and during weathering. The results indicate that treatments of wood with chromium trioxide and ferric nitrate don't have protective effect during weathering.
