Sažetak
Modern elite sport and top-level performance is characterized by a high intensity execution of sport specific technical and tactical elements. Extremely heavy demands occur in the contact sports where athletes directly and strongly "clash" with each other. Such hard physical conditions repeats all the time during competitions, but training as well, thus increasing the injury risks. Also, sport success is dominant motivational factor which produce extreme sports conditions. Numerous factors of comprehensive sport preparation may contribute to athletes' injury prevention. These factors are: diagnostics of athletes health, psychological, motor, functional and morphological status ; motor knowledge concerning technique, tactics and physical conditioning ; development of physical conditioning capacities and morphological attributes and preventive physical conditioning ; achieving integral fitness and preparedness, long-term sport preparation ; respecting and complying with sport training principles and ergogenic aids. Each of the mentioned segments of sport preparation has its, analytical and integrated, portion in preventing sport injuries. If all the previously mentioned principles and procedures of sport preparation are properly respected and the preventive training is included in the sport prepartion programme, then it is possible to achieve desired sport performance and to improve and maintain health status of an athlete.
