Sažetak
Popular worn-out appearance of jeans has recently more and more often been achieved by treating denim fabrics with laser. Laser rays are used to burn out the dystuff on the fabric surface, in various degrees, according to the desired pattern of the visual effect of the surface changed. As the surface treatment is rather intensive, the question arises of possible damages to the fabric and constituting fibres. The investigations described here aimed at obtainig desired visual effects, according to the preprogrammed pattern of being worn out, as well as at the permanence of the effect in wearing and care. The possible damages and changes with testing the impact of the treatment on fabric machanical properties and detecting possible damages and changes in fibres. Laser treatments tested were varying intensity and different fabric samples were used. The effects obtained were determined visually and spectrophotometrically, while the performance of the effect was evaluated by establishing colour differences between treated and untreated samples, after repeated washing. The impact of laser treatment on fabric trength, elongation and bending rigidity was also tested. The impact of laser on changes in fibres was tested by determining viscosimetric molecular mass, average polymerization degree, damage factor and fibre morphological characteristics.
