Sažetak
While starting a new millennium, a project of creating ceremonial academic gowns for honorary officials of the University of Zagreb (Croatia) was initialised at the Faculty of Textile Technology. The main idea was to invent and create modern ceremonial academic gowns that would be in line with the academic rules at the universities world-wide, whilst, at the same time, they should incorporate Croatian character and marquee. Obeying these rules, the ceremonial academic gown of the honorary officials of the University of Zagreb would yield them recognisable in the international academic world. A systematic approach to this complex problem is shown, as well as the mode of synergistic actions of interdisciplinary experts like historians, fashion designers, experts for textile materials, embroidery, clothes construction and modelling, that led to creating a finished product - recognisable ceremonial academic gown of different officials of the University of Zagreb, based on Croatian traditional marquee, modern looks, casualty and functionality.
