Sažetak
Altogether 226 adult urban pigeons captured in the area of the city of Zagreb, capital of Croatia, were submitted to health control. Cloacal and crop swabs were assayed for bacteria, fungi and for Clamydophila psittaci antigen. Blood sera were tested for presence of antibodies against C. psittaci and paramyxovirus type 1. Results of ELISA test revealed significant number of pigeon positive to antigen (43 or 23.3 %) and antibodies (174 or 95.6 %) of C. psittaci. Predominant bacteria in cloaca and crop were Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella haemolytica, Bacillus spp., and Micrococcus spp. Out of 185 crop samples there were isolated fungi: Candida spp., Aspergillus spp., Penicillium spp., Cladosporium spp., Rhisopus spp., and Scopulariopsis spp. Specific antibodies against PMV- 1 were found in 169 or 23.6 % of the sera examined, and the HI titres ranged between 1:4 and 1:512, with an average of 2(4).
