Sažetak
This review is aimed to give a short description of a number of effects which show that some solid materials react to the influence of various mechanical forces (like gravity, centrifugal force, asymmetrical stress and inertial forces due to deceleration, collisions or oscilations) by changing their composition and by generating electrical signals. The survey is dealing equally with the older and the most recent investigations on the topic, having both the teoretical and the experimental character. The review shows that many seemingly different effects may be described by the same general formula.
