Sažetak
Statistics of enrolment and graduation of men and women in physics and geophysics is presented and discussed, for the period between 1946 and 1995. The percentage of women compared to that of men has been persistently low. It is low also when compared to other natural sciences. The percentage of women among the physics teaching staff in the university education is now 17%, compared with 50% in biology. In the physics textbook illustrations, figures of men greatly outnumber the figures of women. Often is the human element in illustrations deliberately reduced, which makes impossible the identification necessary in the learning process. An especially conspicuous lack of human element is noticed in the illustrations of the electricity and magnetism.
