Sažetak
Processes of deagrarization and urbanization are directly stirred up by the industrial development, and emigration of the population from the Croatian rural areas resulted in depopulation of entire regions (the trend that particularly intensified during the recent war), aging of the rural population and loss of critical mass of innovative and enterprising population. Therefore, Croatia is facing a huge and complex task of revitalization and reconstruction (diversification) of rural areas. The concept of rural, family farm and entrepreneurship development must be based on reasonable use of natural and human resources and preservation of rural cultural heritage. The purpose of this paper is to review the characteristic features of the socioeconomic position of rural women and their role in revitalization of the Croatian rural areas
