Sažetak
The fat dormouse (Glis glis) is indigenous game of our habitats, especially on the area called Gorski kotar. Morphological and histological characteristics of the teeth are determined by booth genetic and functional factors. This investigations of dormice teeth are extremelly rare in the recent literature, which inspired us to examine some physical and histological characteristics of the incisors. As a material were used 30 dormice, gathered from May till the end of October (year 2001) at the area Mrkopalj and Delnice, both placed in Gorski kotar. Jaws were separatedfrom the scull, signed and stored in formalin, and then mould in methylmetachrylat. Then we made thiny cuts on wich we measured histological characteristics of the enamel and dentine. The fat dormouse incisors enamel is built up in two layers. The basis of the enamel structure is made of enamel prisms, which differ in their course, direction and inclination, which make an impression of the stripped appearance (diazone and parazone). The results of the study point to some statistically important values in comparison to the statements in the literature.
